Aduna (Gipuzkoa),1956.
He trained to be a teacher and taught for several years; he went on to do a PhD in Basque Philology and today works as a lecturer at the EHU-University of the Basque Country. He has conducted research in the field of literature and, in particular, in children's literature, analysing mainly poetry.
In the field of literary research mention should be made of his Bularretik mintzora: haurra, ahozkotasuna eta literatura (Erein,1993); this book analyses children's literature from the perspective of oral tradition, in particular from that of stories told by grandmothers.
In the area of writing, on the other hand, besides numerous stories, books of poems and novels for teenagers, we could specifically mention the following: a book of aphorisms Herrenaren arrastoan (Alberdania, 1999); a book of poems Mailu isila (Alberdania, 2002); his Begi-niniaren poemak (Erein, 1992) written for children; his book of poems Hosto gorri, hosto berde (Atenea, 2002).
Hauts bihurtu zineten (Alberdania, 2005) is the first fruits of his novel writing: this novel is set in a tiny neighbourhood in the Basque Country during the last years of the Franco era and at the time of the transition that followed.
At the time the narrator was an adolescent and young man. Although many characters appear, there is one who catches the narrator's attention and who he becomes fond of: Adela, the local, progressive teacher. The drama of that loveable woman will weave the fabric of the story, which is more complete.
