After completing his baccalaureate and university entrance studies at night school, he began studying Basque Philology (87-88), Arts (89-90) and Law (90-91), although he did not finish any of the courses.
He has studied and worked with different languages (Basque, Spanish, English, French and, to a lesser extent, Italian). He holds the EGA Certificate of Proficiency in Basque.
He has completed informal adult education courses, on music, comic production, office automation, desktop publishing, basic web page design, and other things. He is to a certain extent self-taught -even though he acknowledges the drawbacks of this.
He is a member of the EIZIE, the Association of Translators, Interpreters and Correctors of the Basque Language. He taught Basque with the AEK (an organisation which runs Basque language and literacy courses for adults) for three years (89-91) and has worked in many other professions.
He has been translating for the last 13 years (since 1992, to be exact). He has wide experience in the field of technical translation and has dealt with the following fields: audio-visual, art review, local government, technical and general subjects, etc.
All in all, he has devoted the last 25 years to Basque language activity and has translated a number of works of literature into Basque including A. Camus' L'Etranger (Arrotza, Hiria 2000) and Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman (Saltzaile baten heriotza, Hiria 2001).
Most of his works of literature are contained in the Marjinalia collection; many of them have been published by different publishing houses (mostly by Erein, Hiria and Txertoa). He regards himself as an outsider in Basque literature.
He has worked on different genres: the novel, the short story, translation and, in recent years, poetry. He has worked hard to improve his old editions and translate his books into Spanish. He has also had works published in Spanish.
